Fishing recap for Uculelet BC on the west coast of Vancouver island. We had another good season for Chinook, Halibut and Lingcod and much of the fishing for salmon was 15 mins or less from the harbour.
Salmon fishing was very hot at the end of August and then gradually started slowing down. Halibut fishing stayed hot during the first half of September and the lingcod fishing was very good most days.
Fishing for the large Chinook salmon has been as good as it gets the past 10 days with most Chinook in the 15-25lb range and a few larger being taken.

Fishing has been good. But fishing isn’t the only discussion. We have had very good customers over the years and we want to say thanks to all of you who come fishing and read our fishing reports and updates.
Fishing forecast for early season from the West Coast of Vancouver Island in Ucluelet BC. Salmon, Halibut, Coho and Lingcod fishing were great in 2022 and are expected to be good or better again.
Another season is behind us and we consider ourselves fortunate to guide in such a rich fishery that also has incredible scenery. Ucluelet is one of the top places to catch salmon and halibut in the world and 2022 was a very good year to remember.
It is close the the end of season for us but fishing continues to be strong. We have been getting some great catches of halibut and coho at Big Bank and also there are still some Chinook coming through in close to the rocks. Halibut limits have increased to 2 per day which saves us a trip offshore on our multi-day trips- a win for the planet and our pockets with the high fuel costs.
Fishing has been stellar through the first part of the Stamp River run coming through Ucluelet and this continues to be a hotspot on Vancouver Island. Normally there is a dropoff late July in close to shore and all the fishing happens offshore. This year there was no drop off in fishing close to shore and it just continued into August except with bigger numbers of Chinook.
Fishing report for Ucluelet BC. July 31, 2022. Fishing in close to shore continues to be outstanding for Chinook and Coho. Halibut are offshore like normal. Some of the best days are right outside the harbour.
Fishing has been insane the past 10 days and the weather dreamy. There are periods of time where you look back and realize you just had something really special. We don’t take these moments for granted.
The salmon fishing in close to shore has exceeded expectations for June. Normally there is a slow down in June for some areas close to shore and it takes a bit to figure out where the fish are. This year has been much different and coho are starting to show up not very close as well.
Fishing has been good this past week though mostly small Chinook as expected. There are lots of ground fish available as well and halibut if the weather is good enough to make the run.

Bites have been hot and heavy for good parts of the morning and sometimes in the afternoon. Lots of good sized Chinook making their way through.
Fishing has been great out at Big Bank for halibut and salmon and the inshore fishery for larger Chinook started sooner than normal with some good sized fish starting to role through August 1.

Fishing has continued to be good over the past few weeks with the exception of a few days around a storm just before the middle of the month.
Fishing has been steady for Chinook salmon, halibut and lingcod for all of April and May. WIth the travel restrictions ending its time to get out on the water!
Salmon fishing this past weekend was great around Great Bear and the Red Can which are just a few minutes from the harbour. Great Bear is mostly protected water which makes it quite calm and scenic fishing. Halibut were also around.
